Mawi Asgedom is a social impact entrepreneur who has inspired millions of people with his bestselling books, inspiring speeches, and online leadership courses. He is the founder of Mawi Learning, a leading provider of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) training, which has educated learners in over 15 counties and won innovation awards for its pioneering work in online and blended SEL. The company was recently acquired by the learning non-profit ACT. He’s been hailed by ESSENCE magazine as one of the “40 Most Inspiring African-Americans” and his interview with Oprah Winfrey has been called one of her “Top 20 Moments.”

Asgedom’s personal story is as captivating as his professional successes. Having fled the civil war in Ethiopia and survived living in a Sudanese refugee camp, he settled in the United States, where he overcame poverty, language barriers, and personal struggles to graduate from Harvard University, delivering the commencement address to an audience of 30,000. He holds an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and has collaborated with universities and corporations including McKinsey & Company, Stanford University, Deloitte, Chase, and BCG, among many others.
