Kevin Roose: Hachette Speakers Bureau

Kevin Roose

Award-Winning Technology and Business Journalist and Millenial Expert

Kevin Roose is a business and technology writer for New York magazine, and the author of the New York Times bestselling book Young Money: Inside the Hidden World of Wall Street's Post-Crash Recruits, an intimate portrait of the lives of eight young Wall Street bankers after the financial crash of 2008. Young Money was named an Editor's Choice by the New York Times Book Review, as well as an Amazon.com book of the month. The book has been optioned for a TV show by Fox Television Studios, and is being translated into several languages.

Previously, Kevin was a reporter for the New York Times, where he covered Wall Street for the business section and for DealBook, the Times’s award-winning financial news site. His first book, The Unlikely Disciple, about the semester he spent undercover as a student at Liberty University, the Reverend Jerry Falwell's right-wing "Bible Boot Camp" for young evangelical Christians, was published to critical acclaim while Kevin was a senior in college.

At the podium Kevin engages audiences from undergraduates to executives on the ever-current topic of successful careers and good business practices. His versatile background and expertise allows him to speak to groups from all walks of life on the ins and outs of corporate America and how to navigate its (often tricky) waters. He provides advice to executives on how to hire and retain the next generation of employees; and he guides the millennial generation along the winding path of career decisions and the meaning of fulfillment in a job. Kevin’s program on big banks points the spotlight on the flaws in Wall Street, how those flaws contributed to the downfall of the economy, and most importantly how to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Kevin has appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, MSNBC's Morning Joe, NPR's Morning Edition, and many other television and radio programs. His writing has also appeared in GQ, Esquire, ESPN: The Magazine, and other publications. A graduate of Brown University, he lives in Berkeley, California.
