Michael F. Roizen, MD, has given over 1,400 lectures to professional medical groups and has been recognized with 22 professional lectureships. Dr. Roizen has six PBS fundraising specials (two of which were in top two PBS special fundraisers in 2006 and 2007, now with well over 5,000 showings in 100 TV markets). He and Dr. Oz write a daily newspaper column currently syndicated to 134 newspapers. They shared an Elle in 2008, a Lifetime achievement award from Books for Better Health, and the Paul Rodgers award for Best Medical Communicators by the National Library of Medicine in 2011. Dr. Roizen was a co-Emmy award winner in 2013 as Chief Medical Consultant to the Dr. Oz show, and regularly gives talks that motivate employees of Cleveland Clinic Corporate Customers to make and to sustain lifestyle changes that improve heath and engagement, and decrease stress, burnout, and medical costs.

Dr. Roizen is the Chief Wellness Officer and holder of the Roizen Family Chair of the Wellness Institute at Cleveland Clinic. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Williams College and Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the University of California, San Francisco, and School of Medicine. He performed his residency in internal medicine at Harvard's Beth Israel Hospital and completed Public Health Service at NIH.

After nine years on the faculty at the University of California, San Francisco, he chaired the top-10-rated Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care at the University of Chicago. In 2007, Dr. Roizen was named Chief Wellness Officer at Cleveland Clinic, the first such position in a major USA healthcare institution. Dr. Roizen practices internal medicine and coaches patients to sustain wellness in the department of Preventive Medicine. The Wellness Institute that he chaired from its inception to February 2017 aims to elevate preventive care and wellness as a core brand of Cleveland Clinic and a core value taught to patients and employees, spreading to all other communities the clinic touches.

Dr. Roizen is a Past Chair of an FDA advisory committee and a former editor for six medical journals. He co-invented a drug now approved by the FDA and has 13 other US patents and many foreign patents. Dr. Roizen has helped start 13 companies, has published more than 175 peer-reviewed scientific papers, 100 textbook chapters, and four medical books (one, a medical best-seller). He has authored or co-authored 15 books for lay audiences including 4 NY Times #1 Bestsellers, and 9 that have placed on the NY Times Bestseller List. His first general-audience book,RealAge: Are You as Young as You Can Be?, displaced Harry Potter for 7 days as #1 on Amazon. His book, YOU: The Owner’s Manual, written with Dr. Mehmet Oz, became a #1 NY Times bestseller and was the #2 bestselling book published in 2005, displacing Harry Potter for 35 days as #1 on Amazon. Their book, YOU: On A Diet, the Owner’s Manual for Waist Management, was the #2 bestselling book published in 2006.
